There are three types of planning services
offered to non-profit organizations by the John Ross Company: Reorganization, Strategic and Annual. While
there are some common elements to each, the process and goals for each are very different.

Reorganization Review & Planning:
Reorganization
Review & Planning is a process designed for an organization that is having to face the prospect of an extremely challenging
present and a very uncertain future. To facilitate Reorganization Planning there is an initial thorough review of an
organizations' financial, program, staffing and Board status. The goal of this 4-6 week process is to generate a detailed
six-nine month Recovery Plan that is accepted by both the Board and Executive Director. Included in this process is
exploring the possibilities of collaborating more deeply with other organizations. Those options can include collaborative
funding/programming/marketing, virtual mergers and full mergers. Reorganization Review & Planning Details
Strategic Planning:
Strategic
Planning is a process through which a relatively stable organization can, in a methodical manner, step back and take a look
at where they have been, where they are today and vision where they want to be in 3-5 years. Common features of Strategic
Planning include examining an organizations' strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and challenges. Other focuses can
include: reviewing programs, staffing patterns, Board development, and fund development. This process takes three-six
months, culminating in a plan with short, mid and long term goals and objectives.
Annual Planning:
Annual
Planning is a process through which key internal members of an organization work together, under the leadership of the Executive
Director, to develop personal and/or department goals and action plans to ensure that the organization moves forward in a
coherent manner. Annual Planning training has three phases: (1) the initial training of key staff about the Annual
Planning process, (2) facilitating a review of initial Annual Plans, and (3) periodic followup on how those plans are being
implemented. Consulting Fees & General Information
